What’s the difference between them?
【规矩】规矩 means more of a habit, a standard of behavior,which is mostly used in the spoken language.
for example:
1,我家有个规矩,大人小孩都要参加劳动。(There’s a rule in my family. All children and adults have to do chores.)
2,房东太太有个规矩,每到夜里十点半就锁门。(The landlady has a rule. She locks the door at 10:30 every night.)
1,乘交通车进城。每人收费一元二角,这是最近开始实行的新规定。(Take the transportation bus into town. The charge is one dollar and twenty cents per person, a new rule that has recently been introduced)
[规则] 着重指制定出来的供大家共同遵守的制度、章程。一般是成文的,如"比赛~、交通~、考试~、借书~、管理~"等。还常与"制定、执行"等动词搭配。The rules refer to the system and regulations that have been formulated for everyone to follow. Generally written, such as “比赛 ~, 交通~(traffic rules)、考试~(Examination rules)、借书~(Borrowing Rules)、管理~(Administrative rules)” and so on. It is also often used with verbs such as “制定、执行”.于口语和书面语。
